GAINESVILLE - After previously turning it down three times, the Gainesville City Council approved an annexation and rezoning proposal Wednesday night for a 231-acre site on Gaines Mill Road.
Opponents urged council to turn it down again, citing traffic concerns, but Mayor Pro Tem Myrtle Figueras said the development means growth for her Athens Highway district.
Gaines Mill Partners plans to build 289 homes on property sold to it by the Gainesville Nonprofit Development Foundation.
