Habersham watering, burn bans lifted

By by Ken Stanford
CLARKESVILLE - Both outdoor fires and water use have been banned in Habersham County in recent weeks, but no more.

The ban on burning had been in place since June... the total ban on outdoor water use was imposed August 3rd, but both have now been lifted.

With the total outdoor watering ban lifted, County Commission Chairwoman Lynne Dockery reminds Habersham County residents that the state restrictions are now back in effect and offer tips on maintaining healthy lawns while using less water.

"First, the State bans prohibits watering 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily and totally on Friday. Odd-numbered addresses can water Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Even-numbered addresses can water Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. But, no watering 10 (a.m.) to 4 (p.m.) and (all day) on Fridays."

Dockery also offered the following tips on watering, landscape planning and design and landscape maintenance.
