Hall student presents disease prevention plan

By Jerry Gunn Reporter
GAINESVILLE - Hall School officials learned Monday night that a young high school student is launching a personal effort to protect fellow students against a deadly ailment.

East Hall High student Jesus Castrejon told them that the staph infection threat from MRSA is real, but preventable with good sanitation practices and most importantly, education about prevention.

Mentor Dr. William Thomas with Gainesville Regional Pathology said that's where Jesus comes in.

"With the fact that you have a kid whose actually in the environment itself, you get to see their insight on it," Dr. Thomas said. "Since they interact with other students, they can get some good insight on how to prevent it."

The East Hall student plans to prepare and issue a brochure to fellow students on MRSA prevention.
