GAINESVILLE - All lanes of Athens Highway at Gaines Mill Road reopened around 3:30 Monday afternoon after the four-lane was shut down because of an accident involving a dump truck.
State DOT's Teri Pope says by 10:30 both southbound lanes into Gainesville were opened and the left northbound lane to Athens was open. She said even though all lanes are now open, DOT workers are still working on the sides of the road to repair power lines.
Pope said the dump truck, with its bed partially upright, snagged a line about 8 a.m. Monday, snapping at least three poles and pulling poles and lines down across the road.
Sgt. Kiley Sargent of the Hall County Sheriff's Office said there were no injuries.
