BUFORD - A tractor trailer carrying flammable paint products overturned in Buford this morning, clipping a power pole and coming to rest on its side in the front yard of a house.
Lt. Thomas Rutledge of the Gwinnett County Fire Department says the 18-wheeler also struck a vehicle parked at the house before coming to rest against the power pole.
Lt. Rutledge says there was a small leak from the truck's fuel tank and a small spill of product from the trailer.
The power pole was snapped in half and Jackson EMC crews responded to the scene to "control a downed service line" and to repair the damaged pole, Rutledge said.
Hamilton Mill Road is closed between Ridge Road and Camp Branch Road and several nearby houses are evacuated.
A wrecker is currently at the scene attempting to upright the trailer.
Firefighters remain at the scene due to the flammable hazard.
Gwinnett County Police are diverting traffic and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
