Owings likely to make next start

PHOENIX - Gaineville's Micah Owings, who pulled up lame running the bases in Arizona's game against the Dodgers Tuesday night, suffered a strained hamstring but is expected to be on the mound for his next start.

"I think it was shortly after rounding second," said Owings in a posting on the Diamondbacks' Web site. "It just locked up on me. I didn't really feel it pop. If it had popped there would've been some damage. It just cramped up on me, and I thought I was going to be able to stretch it out right there. But I wasn't able to, unfortunately."

According to the Web site, Owings may be able to make his next start. The team will know more after he throws his regular bullpen session in a few days, according to the posting.
