Democrats to rally in Gainesville Sunday

GAINESVILLE - Democrats will gather in Gainesville Sunday for the annual "For the People Rally!."

Plans call for video presentations from the Democratic presidential hopefuls and a presidential preference straw poll.

Among those expected to attend:

*Jane Kidd, Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia

*Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin

*Georgia Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond

*Col. Ben Purcell, Vietnam Veteran and POW

*The Rev. Jim Nelson, author of "Where Would Jesus Put the Sidewalks?"

*Former State Senator Carol Jackson

*Former State Representative Wyc Orr

*Congressional candidates in the 9th and 10th Districts

The rally begins at 2:00 at the Georgia Mountains Center.
