GAINESVILLE - Several Hall County fire companies battled an early morning fire in West Hall.
A blaze of unknown origin broke out around 7:00, gutting one corner of the residence at 3528 Looper Lake Road. No one was at home.
"Our main concern upon arrival was to do a search, to make sure that no one was in the residence," said Fire Captain John Waldrop, adding that with cars in the yard, firefighters wanted to make doubly sure no one was inside.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
