Henry's game-winning jumper in OT lifts Mercer over Owls

KENNESAW - Calvin Henry made a jumper as time expired to lift Mercer to a 77-75 win over Kennesaw State in overtime on Saturday night.

The Owls (2-12, 0-1 Atlantic Sun Conference) tied the game at 66-all in the second half when Ronell Wooten hit a 3-pointer as time ran out, sending the game into an extra period.

Kennesaw State took a 71-69 lead with 3:52 left in overtime when Kelvin McConnell made three free throws. But the Bears (6-8, 1-0) went on a quick 6-1 run over the next couple minutes to take a 75-72 lead.

Tanner Jacobs hit a jumper and Ryan Dougherty followed with a free throw, tying the score at 75-75 with 11 seconds left in the game. Then Henry, who finished with only four points and had 10 rebounds, scored the game-winning bucket for Mercer.

James Florence led the Bears with 28 points and four steals. Brian Pfohl scored 13 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had five assists. Shaddean Aaron also had 13 points.

Shaun Stegall scored 22 points for the Owls. Jacobs scored 17 points and 18 rebounds, Wooten had 15 points and McConnell added 14.
