Rabid skunk found in Candler Road area

GAINESVILLE - Hall County already has its first reported case of rabies of the new year... after recording eleven last year.

County animal control says a skunk that came in contact with a woman last weekend tested positive for the disease. Officials say she was scratched by the animal.

The incident occurred Saturday south of Gainesville in the Candler Road area.

Last year, the first case in Hall County was not reported until March.
