GAINESVILLE - Gainesville Hall County supporters for Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee displayed campaign posters, passed out flyers and yelled and waved at passing motorists Friday on the square downtown.
Hall County campaign chairman Brad Farrow said they're laying the groundwork for a big yes vote on Super Tuesday, February 5th.
"We're encouraging everyone to support Mike and to get out and vote," Farrow said. "If you're not going to support Mike, don't go vote."
Farrow said the former Arkansas governor's immigration policies should play well locally and draw votes.
"Mike likes immigration, we like legal immigration, not illegal," Farrow said.
Farrow said Huckabee advocates closing the border and "starting over," with no amnesty for the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants now in the U.S.
Huckabee would allow 120 days for the illegals to return to their country of origin and apply for legal immigration with some exemptions for people with families.
Farrow said he hoped Huckabee would do better in the Michigan primary where Mitt Romney was the front-runner, but he's hopeful his candidate will be the front-runner February 5.
