SAVANNAH - Joseph Flegler scored 20 points and Lazarius Coleman had a double-double to help Savannah State beat Longwood 79-67 on Saturday.
The Tigers (10-14) opened the game with a 17-4 lead. Flegler scored 11 points during the spurt, hitting a layup, a couple free throws, a jumper and a 3-pointer.
Savannah State controlled the rest of the contest, later pushing its lead to 55-28 with 14:12 left in the second half on a Curtis Brown slam dunk. The Lancers (4-17) cut the lead to 11 points with 4:48 remaining in the game, but couldn't pull any closer.
Coleman scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Tigers, while Raye Bailey added 15 points.
Kirk Williams scored 22 points and had nine rebounds for Longwood. Ryan Bogan had 16 points and Kevin Swecker added 13.
