GAINESVILE - Add yet another milestone to the outstanding career of Gainesville boys basketball coach Jerry Davis.
Gainesville's 63-46 win over Buford Saturday night at the Gainesville gym gave Davis win No. 700 in his 28-year career.
There wasn't much drama for Davis and the Red Elephants in the second half as they went on a 24-3 run in the third quarter to put the game away. George Manomano hit a pair of 3-pointers in the opening minutes of the second half to give Gainesville a 43-20 lead to spark the run.
Buford made a late run in the fourth quarter but could get no closer than the final score.
Gainesville (11-9) has now won three straight and four of its last five games but will be tested over the next week. Gainesville hits the road for three straight Region 7B-AAA games against West Hall, Johnson, and Flowery Branch before closing out the regular season at home against West Forsyth.
Manomano paced the Elephants in scoring with 15 points. Allan Dockery added nine for Gainesville.
Buford (6-13) was led by Jeramie Moore with 17 points. the Wolves have dropped eight straight games after winning three straight.

The Class AA fourth-ranked Lady Wolves held off Class AAA No. 9 Gainesville behind 23 points from Blanche Alverson.
The loss was even tougher for Gainesville (16-5) as sophomore leading scorer and rebounder Jaymee Carnes had to leave the game in the second half with a knee injury. Two of Gainesville's losses have come to Buford and a third to Class AAAA No. 3 Marist.
Buford (16-4) was coming off a 12-point loss to Class AA No. 3 Greater Atlanta Christian on Friday night.
Gainesville was paced by six points each from Kiki Thompson and Taylor Ricketts.
