Saturday's boys basketball roundup

ATLANTA - Marist outscored Class AAA No. 8 Flowery Branch 18-9 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 64-55 win Saturday night in boys basketball action.

The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak for the Falcons (17-3) who will travel to Johnson Tuesday in a key Region 7B-AAA game.

The game was tied 19-19 after the first quarter and Marist led 34-30 at halftime. Flowery Branch outscored the War Eagles 16-12 in the third quarter to tie the game at 46-46 heading into the fourth quarter.

Phillips Chau, A.C. Bailey, and Izaan Cross each had 12 points to lead the Falcons in scoring. Josh barrett had nine points for Flowery Branch.

J.J. Mann had 19 points to lead Class AAAA Marist (13-5). Dee Goens added 14 and Jeff Brown had 10 for the War Eagles.

GAINESVILLE - Senior David Pruett poured in 29 points to lead the Lions to a Region 8-A crossover game at the Lakeview gym.

It was the seventh straight win for Lakeview (13-7, 5-0 in subregion) and sets up a showdown with Jefferson (9-10, 4-1) Tuesday night at home.

The Lions jumped out to a big 21-7 lead after the first quarter and cruised the rest of the way.

Buck Harris led Prince Avenue (5-12) with 15 points.
