ALBANY - The West Hall boys cross country team finished second in the 28-team field at the Westover Invitational on Saturday.
Lovett won the boys event, followed by West Hall, who was led by Andy Martin (16:50), Jimmy Gault (17:00), Josh Pendley (17:05), Keegan Kyle (17:14), and Jairo Padilla (17:15).
The Lady Spartans finished ninth in the girls race behind strong runs from Liliana Cervantes (20:10), Kaylin Walters (21:32), and Ansley Dobbs (21:42).
It was another strong performance from a Region 7-AAA team in statewide competition. Region 7-AAA boasts some of the state's finest runners with the Flowery Branch, North Hall, and West Hall boys teams having all been ranked in the top five in the state this season.
Flowery Branch currently is ranked No. 1 and won the Hall County Championship earlier in the week. For the girls, West Forsyth, Flowery Branch, Creekview and Chestatee have all been ranked in the top 10 in the state.
