10 percent of Hall's voters vote early so far

GAINESVILLE - Hall County Elections Superintendent Charlotte Sosebee Hunter said Wednesday that 10 percent of Hall County's registered voters - about 10,000 of them - have cast early voting ballots in the General Election.

Hunter expects to be busy right up until the cutoff date for early voting, which is Oct. 31.

Hunter says voters want to avoid anticipated long lines on election day Nov. 4, and they've made up their minds and want to go ahead and vote.

With presidential election day less than three weeks away, Hunter said her four full time employees, including herself and 17 part time elections workers, are busy and getting busier with a steady stream of early voters at the elections office on Browns Bridge Road, the former Wal-Mart location.

Hunter predicts a 90 percent voter turnout on election day, in what she calls a historic presidential election.

The deadline for early voting is Oct. 31. Hunter says the elections office is open to voters from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
