Golf: Dawson teams sweep matches at Gold Creek (3/20)

DAWSONVILLE -- The Dawson County golf teams swept a pair of matches Thursday at Gold Creek Golf Course.

The Lady Tigers (8-1) beat Pickens 93-111 in a dual match to win their eighth consecutive victory of the season.

Senior Kasay Holbrook shot a 40 while Charley Whitmire tallied a 53 to pace Dawson County.

The Dawson County boys shot a 163 to beat Pickens (191) and East Jackson (253).

Dawson County (8-4) posted their best score of the season behind a career-low round from senior Tyler Goodwin with a 36. Justin Denard and Nick Fitts each carded a 42, and Matt Christopher fired a 43 for the Tigers.

Both Dawson teams return to action next Tuesday in a Tri-Match at Gold Creek against Forsyth Central and Rabun County.
