GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville baseball team kept pace with Flowery Branch in Region 7-AAA after pounding out a 14-2, five inning win over Chestatee Saturday at Ivey-Watson Field.
The win for the Elephants (15-5, 14-2 in region) moves them into a tie for first with the Falcons.
Gainesville got a huge game from Zach Bennett, who had two home runs and six RBI, including a game-ending grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Robbie Hefflinger also had a big game collecting three hits, including a home run, and two RBI. Max Joseph had two hits for Gainesville.
Andy Edmondson pitched a complete game to get the win for Gainesville.
