Spout Springs library branch has grand opening

By Jerry Gunn Reporter
FLOWERY BRANCH - Hall County's newest and biggest library is now officially open on Spout Springs Road in Flowery Branch.

There was fun and plenty to eat, including a giant grand opening cake, at the grand opening ceremony on Saturday.

The new $6 million facility, built with special sales tax funds and state money, was full of patrons and local politicians, including Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, who received a giant library card.

The library is good news for Kevin Tharpe and his family, who live nearby.

"My wife and daughter are going to use it quite a bit. We've been watching it build up and we're excited," Tharpe said. "We used the Blackshear Place library but this one is well laid out and very close and that's what I like about it."

A surprise rain shower moved festivities indoors but did not dampen the participation in the grand opening event, which director Adrian Mixson deemed a success with a growing book and media collection.

"We have about 45,000 items in the collection now and we'll still be getting books for as long as these doors are open," Mixson said.
