GAINESVILLE - As speculation continues about who Barack Obama will pick as his running mate, the two people from Gainesville who will be delegates to the Democratic National Convention know who they would like him to choose.
Lauren Bell says former Georgia Senator Sam Nunn.
"He represents what the Democratic Party used to stand for here," Bell said, "more of the older policies of the Democratic Party, and he's inspired a lot of people and I think he would be a great candidate."
Joe Diaz says Hillary Clinton "because she has mobilized so many groups, the blue-collar labor interests, Latino interests, women voters."
Bell, an Atlanta attorney who lives in Gainesville, and Diaz, a Gainesville attorney, along with Elizabeth Stone Hand of Cumming, will represent Democrats in the 9th Congressional District at the convention, which begins Monday in Denver.
Their comments were made at a taping Wednesday of Northeast Georgia This Week, which airs at 6:05 Sunday morning on WDUN NEWS TALK 550 and at 9:05 Sunday morning on SPORTS RADIO 1240 THE TICKET.
