Eagles explode in second half to beat Banks County

HOMER -- Riverside Military Academy opened its Region 8-AA schedule with a solid 56-28 win over Banks County Friday night on the road.

Julian Suber combined for 275 all-purpose yards to lead the Eagles to the victory. Suber ran seven times for 97 yards and 1 TD, completed three passes for 80 yards and 1 TD, caught two catches for 36 years and 1 TD, and returned a kickoff 62 yards for another score.

Backup quarterback Lucas Bersin passed for 130 yards and two TDs and Logan Clemons and Taylor Peterson each had one rushing touchdown for Riverside.

Adrian Quinones had six catches for 66 yards and 1 TD and Kyle Glennon caught four passes for 91 yards and one score.

The Eagles (2-0, 1-0 Region 8-AA) led just 22-14 at halftime but exploded for 27 third-quarter points to blow the game open.

Riverside will play host to Rabun County (0-2) next Friday in another Region 8-AA matchup.

Banks County (0-2, 0-1) will play host to Dawson County next Friday.
