Lovett overmatched in rematch with Buford

BUFORD -- Unfortunately for Lovett, it was hard to discern between last year's 50-0 blow out loss to Buford in last year's Class AA state title game and Friday night's rematch at Tom Riden Stadium.

The Wolves (3-0, 1-0 Region 6-AA) piled up 499 yards of offense behind the bruising running of Storm Johnson (13 carries, 164 yards 2 TDs) and Cody Getz (9-129, 3 TDs) while the defense held Lovett to just 150 yards for the game.

Buford scored on four of its first five possessions to build a 20-0 halftime lead. Daniel Villafuerte sandwiched field goals of 25 and 29 yards around touchdown runs by Getz and Johnson.

In the third quarter Getz scored on runs of 2 and 11 yards and Johnson capped the night with an electrifying 97-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.

Buford will take a week off before traveling to Decatur in two weeks.
