NGMC North Patient Tower work at a 'feverish' pace

By Jerry Gunn Reporter
GAINESVILLE - The President and CEO of Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) told the Gainesville Rotary Club Monday the new North Patient Tower continues "on time, budget" and work is proceeding at a "feverish" pace with an open house planned April 19.

Rotarians also got a sneak peek at the new facility which they were allowed to tour following their meeting.

"As you can imagine with a facility this size and this complex and with the thought of consolidating campuses with Lanier Park, there's a lot of work to be done and a lot of steps and procedures that have to be followed to get us to opening this new building on the 19th," Gardner said.

Because of that, there likely won't be any more such meetings and "sneak peeks" until it's time for the open house.

Gardner placed the 128-bed Tower's final price tag at an estimated $180 million and the cost of the new Women and Children's Pavilion at $52 million.

"From a financial perspective it's a very monumental time in the history of the system," Gardner said.â
