Federal defendant pleas in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE - A federal court defendant now faces ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine on a guilty plea entered Friday morning in U.S. District Court in Gainesville.

Judge William O'Kelly told Matthew David Schutrop that is the maximum sentence he could get for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Schutrop was charged in Hall County with taking a stolen gun moved from one state to another and attempting to pawn it in August 2008; his sentencing is set for February 24th next year.
