OAKWOOD - West Hall won its fourth straight Region 7B-AAA game with a 54-39 win over Flowery Branch Friday night at the West Hall gym.
The Spartans (19-4, 5-3 in subregion) outscored Flowery Branch (11-10, 5-3) 30-15 in the second and third quarters to run out to a 40-24 lead.
Kavon Williams sparked West Hall with 16 points, including four 3-pointers. Shunquez Stephens added 11 points and Rodney Gibson eight for the Spartans.
Josh Barrett and Brian Whelchel each had 11 points to pace the Falcons. Barrett had three 3-pointers but Whelchel had just two field goals to go with seven free throws for the game. Phillips Chau had seven for Flowery Branch.
The win moved West Hall to within one game of Gainesville for first place in the subregion. The Spartans will travel to Gainesville Tuesday with a share of first place on the line.
