Hall BOE considers eliminating 100 jobs

GAINESVILLE - Hall County Schools would have 100 fewer positions next year under personnel cuts presented at Monday night's work session.

According to Assistant Superintendent for personnel Dr. Richard Hil,l the bulk of the cuts are in the elementary schools with 56 teaching positions eliminated for FY 2010.

Twenty-two Special Education jobs are not in the budget along with 17 ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) teachers. Five counselor jobs are eliminated and the cuts include nine central office jobs and eight and a half high school teaching positions and four and a half middle school teaching slots.

Schools Superintendent Will Schofield told board members the cuts would save up to $6 million and he wants to cut $ten-million from next yearâ
