Fire forces evacuation of King's Delight

GAINESVILLE - Quick thinking employees at the King's Delight meat processing plant helped put the brakes on a fire at the business Tuesday afternoon.

Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said about 200 employees were evacuated when the fire broke out around 12:30 P.M.

"It appears it (the fire) is going to be minor," said Kimbrell. "The business was able to use a couple of portable extinguishers and keep it in check until we got here."

He said it appears the fire was sparked by construction activity in the building, and it was contained to a small area of the building.

King's Delight is located on Candler Highway at I-985.
