Dogs rally for win in 10th inning over Hogs in SEC tourney

By The Associated Press
HOOVER, ALABAMA -- Joey Lewis hit a sharp grounder down the third-base line to bring home Matt Cerione in the bottom of the 10th inning and give Georgia a 2-1 victory over Arkansas on Thursday night in the second round of the Southeastern Conference baseball tournament.

Georgia broke a scoreless tie in the sixth with back-to-back doubles from Rich Poythress and Bryce Massanari, giving the Bulldogs (37-20) a 1-0 lead.

Georgia starter Trevor Holder retired the Razorbacks in order in six of the first eight innings and allowed only one runner to reach as far as second base.

But Arkansas (33-21) opened the ninth with consecutive singles, and then Andy Wilkins hit a sacrifice fly off reliever Dean Weaver that scored Chase Leavitt from third to tie the game 1-1.

Arkansas will play Florida Friday in an elimination game. Georgia receives a bye and will not play again until Saturday.
