Hiker survives 100-foot fall

By Staff
DAHLONEGA - A man fell more than 100 feet over DeSoto Falls over the weekend, and his wife said there were no warning signs along the hiking trail.

Sharon Boyd told Georgia News Network, "There were not signs. There was actually a path...a rugged path...and there was other people up there."

National Forest officials have disputed Boyd's claims, however. Stephanie Johnson with the U.S. Forest Service said, "There are some warning signs along the trail and in that general vicinity."

Boyd's 39-year-old husband was hospitalized and is expected to make a full recovery.
