GAINESVILLE - Pay cuts across the board for the Gainesville school system, as the school board gives final approval to its fiscal year 2010 budget.
Superintendent Dr. Merriane Dyer said everyone will feel the pinch, but the pay cuts will allow programs for students to remain intact.
"The final decision was made to reduce certified staff and all people who are classified who make as much as a beginning teacher, or more, by $75 a month, which is a $900 annual reduction," said Dyer.
Classified workers will see their paychecks reduced by $10. The school board takes a 10% reduction in salary, and Dr. Dyer's salary will be cut by 2%.
The total budget for FY 2010 is $53.4 million dollars.
