LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY - Kentucky coach Rich Brooks says wide receiver Randall Cobb and running back Alfonso Smith are on track to play in the Wildcats' season-opener against Miami (Ohio) next Saturday.
Cobb has been slowed by back spasms recently while Smith has been dealing with a bruised foot. Brooks said on Wednesday he expects both players to be ready to face the RedHawks.
Brooks added that junior Will Fidler has cemented his role as the backup quarterback behind Mike Hartline. Fidler had been battling freshmen Morgan Newton and Ryan Mossakowski for the position. Brooks expects that Morgan or Newton will be redshirted, but he's not certain which one will sit out the season.
