Volleyball: Johnson wins two-of-three in 7-AAA matches

OAKWOOD - Johnson went 2-1 Tuesday in series of matches against Region 7-AAA opponents at the Johnson gym.

The Lady Knights opened with a 2-0 win over Gilmer beating the Lady Bobcats 25-23, 26-24). Britt Mimbs had three digs and three aces and Shelley Farley added five assists for Johnson.

Johnson then was knocked off 2-0 by West Forsyth losing 25-11, 25-16. Caitlin Sloan had four kills for the Lady Knights.

In the nightcap, Johnson beat rival West Hall 25-18, 25-16 behind the play of Mary Fiorentino, who had six aces and three kills. Britt Mimbs added three kills for the Lady Knights.

Johnson improved to 5-6 overall and 2-1 in 7-AAA play. The Lady Knights next will play host to West Hall and Gainesville on Thursday.
