Hall Planners approve 'tree zipping'

GAINESVILLE - Hall County Planning Commissioners gave their unanimous approval and best wishes Monday night to North Georgia Canopy Tours LLC, which plans to develop a 135-acre recreation nature preserve near Lula.

Co-owner Leah Watkins said her first of its kind facility with 'zip cables' and ski bridges is set up for family get-a-ways.
Watkins said plans are to start building the preserve in December with county commission approval.

GATEWAY ADJUSTMENTS

Planning Commissioners tweaked Gateway Corridor Overlay District regulations to allow a landscaping operation and outside yard sales on Thompson Bridge Road near Stephens Road.

Vice Chairman Jones Cottrell said the conditional uses and rezoning will improve land use in the Corridor, set up to approve Hall County's appearance on major highways.

The outside yard sale request came from Donald Riccardi of Murrayville; Niles Corey made the request for a conditional use for outside storage and sale of landscaping materials on on Cleveland Highway near Claude Peck Road.

Commissioners also approved John Gavel's conditional use request for an auto sales lot at his existing auto repair shop in Murrayville on Dahlonega Highway near Bark Camp Road in Murrayville, also in the Gateway Corridor Overlay District.
