Curbside leaf pick up begins Monday

By Staff
GAINESVILLE - Though the changes in the leaves have not really begun in earnest, some are already beginning to make their way to the ground...and the City of Gainesville is ready.

Curbside leaf pick up will begin Monday and for the purpose of leaf pick up, the city has been divided into two zones.

ZONE 1 - Contains all portions of the City west of a line down Thompson Bridge Road (SR 60), along Green Street and south along E. E. Butler (US 129).

ZONE 2 - Contains all portions of the City north and east of a line down Thompson Bridge Road (SR 60) along Green Street and south along E. E. Butler (US 129).

Zone 1 will be serviced the first and third week each month; Zone 2, the second and fourth week.

City officials say all leaves should be placed at curbside no later than Monday of each week listed, according to the schedule outlined above. Leaves not placed curbside by Monday may not be picked up if city crews have already completed pick up in the designated area.

Leaves should be placed in long, narrow piles along the back of the curb. All trash, sticks or small limbs longer than eight inches should be removed from the leaves.

Curbside leaf pick up will conclude January 28.
