(Cleveland)- A White County woman escaped serious injury Wednesday morning when the vehicle she was driving left the roadway and overturned landing on it's roof. Ana Newberry, White County Fire Department spokeswoman said, the accident occurred around 7:15 AM on Highway 254 near Hogan Road.
The driver, the only occupant, was entrapped in the vehicle. As fire department responders arrived, the recertification training the firefighters attended this past weekend on vehicle extrication paid off. The "Jaws of Life" were used to make entrance into the vehicle and assist the driver in getting out and in to a med unit.
Newberry said, once out of the vehicle, the patient was checked by White County Emergency Medical Service and then transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with non life threatening injuries.
Firefighters were on scene for approximately an hour and ½. The accident is being investigated by the Georgia State Patrol.
