Flowery Branch shooting ruled accidental

GAINESVILLE - A shooting Monday at Country Side Village mobile home park in Flowery Branch was, indeed, an accident.

Hall County Sheriff's Colonel Jeff Strickland said the victim in the shooting, 19-year-old Jerrod Turner of Buford, is recuperating from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

"He was in satisfactory condition after a second surgery yesterday," said Strickland.

Turner is hospitalized at Grady Hospital in Atlanta.

Although preliminary reports indicated the shooting was an accident, authorities could not make a final determination in the case until they interviewed Turner.

Turner was cleaning a handgun when he shot himself. No charges will be filed.
