GAINESVILLE - The Hall County Sheriff's Department said goodbye Wednesday to a veteran deputy who helped start the Dive Team, served with the SWAT team, and was the department's spokesman for many years.

With the Hall County Sheriff's Department a burial service with full honors means just that, including a horse drawn caisson, honor guard with 21 gun salute, the Riderless horse, a Scots piper playing Amazing Grace and TAPS, the solemn, age old bugle call dating back to the American Civil War that signals the end of a soldier's day, and the soldier's final rest.

Retired sheriff's Lt. Art Jetton received his full honors Wednesday at Alta Vista Cemetery from the department he served for 30 years. His 'Celebration of Life' was held at First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville.

Jetton, who was 59 years old, helped lay the groundwork for the formation of the Dive Team in 1979 and was a member of the team for many years. He also served and trained on the Sheriff's SWAT Team and for several years was the department's spokesman as Public Information Officer. He served Gainesville State College as a public safety officer.
