Kids featured at G'ville FUMC Christmas service

GAINESVILLE - Gainesville First United Methodist Church families learned that 'A Baby Changes Everything' during the noon Christmas Eve service in the church Great Room Friday on Thompson Bridge Road.

The service emphasized the presence and the participation of children with the lighting of the Advent Candle, the portrayal of the Nativity featuring Joseph and Mary's arrival in Bethlehem, the innkeeper's greeting and the visits of the shepherds and the Wise Men.

"Today is a day about making room," said Reverend Debbie Fox, pastor of Christian Education and Discipleship. "It's about making room in an inn and making room in our hearts for the coming of the Baby Jesus."

The voices of the children called the congregation's attention once again to the 2,000 year old event that signaled the beginning of Christianity, the birth of Christ.

The age-old carols of Christmas were sung once more and the Christmas story from Luke's New Testament Gospel was recited.
