Hall Commission passes no tax hike budget

GAINESVILLE - Hall County Commissioners Thursday night passed their no tax increase, $90.4-million budget for fiscal year 2011, which begins July 1, 2010. The General budget decreased by $2.3 million from $92.7-million in FY 2010 to $90.4-million aproved for FY11. The property tax rate remains unchanged from the previous fiscal year.

Finance Director Michaela Thompson presented the budget and said revenue is not expected to increase this year, primarily due to the decline in consumer spending and local construction and cost-cutting measures remain in effect for FY2011.
They include a hiring freeze, suspension of the countyâ
