Two injured when SUV hits Habersham school bus

By B.J. Williams
BALDWIN - Two people were injured this morning - including a student - when a Jeep Cherokee pulled onto Georgia Highway 365 and rear-ended a Habersham County school bus.

The student complained of back and neck pain at the scene and was taken to Habersham Medical Center for obeservation.

Habersham County Schools Transportation Director Tim Dockery said the injuries appeared to be minor.

"That student, along with all the others, should be fine," said Dockery.

The driver of the Jeep apparently has been hospitalized. The driver's condition is not known at this time.

Dockery said another bus picked up the students from the damaged bus and continued on the route to South Habersham Middle School.

"We'll be fine this afternoon," noted Dockery, "[we'll be] back on a regular schedule."

The accident happened just after 7:00 this morning.
