Repaving on Green Street Sunday, Monday nights

By Staff
GAINESVILLE - State road crews will be working late night and overnight Sunday and Monday to resurface a stretch of road through Gainesville.

Teri Pope with the State Department of Transportation said the resurfacing work actually began last month along State Route 11 Business/Butler Parkway/Green Street, but equipment malfunctions put a temporary halt to the work.

Pope said the road will be closed from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. both Sunday and Monday.

"[The work will take place on] Butler Parkway/Green Street between Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and the split with State Route 60 at the Civic Center," said Pope.

She said one lane will be closed at a time while crews take up damaged asphalt and replace it with new materials.

If the weather cooperates, the work should be finished by rush hour Tuesday morning.
