White County Sheriff spokesman Captain Jim Couch said the two, a man and a woman, ran when approached on Helen Highway.
The woman was apprehended at an RV park and the male was taken into custody on Cameron Point, off Tom Bell Road north of Cleveland, after authorities set up a perimeter around the suspect. During the incident, tracking dogs were called in from Dawson County to assist.
Couch identified those arrested as 32-year old Chris Roy Helton of Cleveland. He has been charged with forgery and theft by taking. The other suspect has been identified as 32-year old Amy Bradley Eller of Clarkesville. She was charged with forgery.
The two remain in the White County Detention Center. Couch said the investigation is ongoing in this case and additional charges could be made.
