White Co. students out until Tuesday

By Dean Dyer WRWH Radio
CLEVELAND - White County students will not be back in the classroom until Tuesday Jan. 18 and it's not all related to the road conditions.

The school system has been closed for four days this week because of the snow and ice storm and Superintendent Dr. Paul Shaw says Friday is a scheduled teacher work day/ student holiday and then Monday is a federal holiday for Martin Luther King's Birthday. So student won't be returning to the classroom until Tuesday.

Dr. Shaw said they are looking at several option right now, but no decision has been made about making up the days that were missed this week. He said, "we are leaning toward adding an extra week at the end of May and have graduation on June 3."

The board of education will be making a final decision on the processing of making up the missed days at an upcoming meeting.
