CLEVELAND - A White County man was injured Tuesday afternoon when the roof of a small building he was working on collapsed on top of him. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. at a residence off Gene Nix Road. White County Fire and EMS units were dispatched.
The victim was trapped between the ceiling joist and the cement floor, and it took fire and medical personnel about 45 minutes to free the victim. White County Deputy Emergency Management Agency Director and firefighter Travis Smith said they used various pieces of equipment to free the victim as well as a lot of care and safety, not just for the victim, but for their own safety as well.
According to Smith, the man did not seem to be hurt seriously. He was transported by White County Emergency Medical Services to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. Officials believe the man was disassembling the building when the roof fell.
