(Cleveland)- The White County Rotary Club had the opportunity to be some of the first in the state to get a new state road map with the front cover featuring White County's Blackstock Vineyard. Georgia Department of Transportation Communications Officer Teri Pope and DOT District 1 Preconstruction Engineer Robert Mahoney were guest speakers at the rotary meeting Tuesday.
Mahoney presented an update on the Cleveland bypass project. He said they hope to have all the right of ways purchased by the end of this year and then they can put the first phase of the project up for bids.
Pope shared with the Rotarians the new road map. She said being widely distributed around the state at visitors centers and chamber of commerce offices.
According to Pope, the Blackstock Vineyard picture is a good way to promote White County and was suggested to the DOT board by then board member Steve Gooch of Dahlonega.
