By Jerry Gunn Reporter
GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville Rotary Club celebrated a new Man and Woman of the Year Monday night during festivities and ceremonies at the Chattahoochee Country Club.

Mary Lynn Coyle, who began supporting health care as a Candy Striper volunteer and now chairs the Northeast Georgia Health Systems Board, is Rotary's 2011 Woman of the year.

The man whose vision turned a former children's clothing manufacturing plant into Gainesville's Communiversity, housing the INK Museum, the Brenau nursing school, and new industry "incubator," Gus Whalen, is Man of the year.

It was the 72nd annual banquet for Gainesville's oldest business and civic club.

This year's Sidney O. Smith Fellowship Award went to Larry Griffeth, while Reverend Bill Coates, pastor of First Baptist Church on Green Street received the Guardian of Ethics Award; Mimi Collins received the Lee Arrendale Award.
