Neighbors help Winder police nab burglary suspects

By B.J. Williams
WINDER - Two Winder men have been arrested in connection with burglaries on Sweetgum Lane, and police are crediting residents with helping them catch the suspects.

Police Chief Dennis Dorsey said Tory Browner and Quintonio Billings, both age 17, were caught Monday morning, hiding on a back patio at an apartment building.

Officers were called to the scene after a resident heard glass breaking, and then other residents spotted the suspects fleeing the scene and pointed them out to police.

"You can't put a value on it [citizens helping police]; it's so important to us to have the citizens helping us," said Dorsey.

Browner and Billings are each charged with burglary and criminal attempt to commit burglary. Chief Dorsey said it is possible the pair could be implicated in other break-ins.
