GAINESVILLE - Authorities now have an identity for the body found in a creek behind New Holland Mill in Gainesville earlier this month.
Investigators with the Dekalb Medical Examiner's Office used dental records to identify Kyle Maurice Vandyke, 31, of Gainesville.
"An autopsy was performed," said Hall County Sheriff's Col. Jeff Strickland, "However, results were limited due to decomposition. There were no signs of trauma to the body or any evidenc of gunshot or stab wounds."
Strickland said Vandyke had been living at a residential rehab facility for substance abusers at 29 Branch Street. He was last seen walking away from the facility days before Christmas. Vandyke's body was found April 4.
Strickland said the investigation into the death will continue.
