FBI and GBI investigate Carnesville bank robbery

CARNESVILLE - Authorities in Franklin County say they've been investigating a possible explosive device left inside a bank in Carnesville.

The FBI and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation surrounded the First Citizens Bank Thursday afternoon.

Sheriff's officials said that a South Carolina man walked into the bank and demanded money. Authorities said he left a device on the counter that resembled a bomb, and then left the bank with several bags of money.

Authorities closed several nearby streets, and were using a robot to investigate the device.

Officials said the suspect was taken into custody a short time after the robbery.
