G'ville Summer Camp kids recreate 'Thriller'

GAINESVILLE - Tuesday with its hot temperatures and bright sun was a good day to cool off in the Splash Zone at the Frances Meadows Aquatic Center in Gainesville but there was also a chance to watch Summer Day Campers do the 'Flash Mob'.

Around 100 boys and girls recreated Michael Jackson's 'Zombie Walk' from his 'Thriller' video right in the middle of a surprised group of swimmers.
Camp Councilor Jarrad Howard said after a week of practice they had it down pat.

"They love Thriller," Howard said. "When I told them they were going to be learning this dance their eyes lit up and they were just super excited to get started and get out here and do it today."

So was the Flash Mob fun? Yes it was, according to 11 year old Caroline Nabb.

"It was kind of nerve wracking but it was so much fun and exciting," she said.

Frances Meadows spokesperson Julie Butler Colombini said the kids were ready to have fun and help celebrate July as Parks and Recreation Month.

"The kids had a great time," Colombini said. "This was our first Flash Mob in Gainesville and it showed how much fun you can have in the Park."
